About ROP- Regional Occupational Program
The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools Regional Occupational Program (SBCSS ROP) was organized in 1973 by the County Superintendent’s Office and a group of ten participating school districts. The SBCSS ROP is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
The SBCSS ROP provides open entry, open exit career technical education and support services that augment and expand the capabilities of our school districts. Our courses provide instruction for entry-level employment, advanced training, and upgrading skills. SBCSS ROP courses are limited to occupational areas where there is reasonable expectation of employment or postsecondary articulation, and where there is sufficient student interest.
The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools employs an administrator and staff to oversee the budget, develop instructional programs and to provide support services within ROP operational guidelines. The SBCSS ROP is organized on a decentralized basis contracting with districts to run individual programs that meet local student and employer needs. Each district manages the day-to-day operation of the courses they offer. Our governance structure consists of a Board of Directors made up of the County Superintendent of Schools and the superintendents of the sixteen member districts and coordinating council, which is an advisory body composed of district representatives.
